Lastly, a Little Loose Park History
Jacob L Loose Park is the third-largest park in Kansas City. The park was a significant site for the Battle of Westport. It is said the battle involved nearly 29,000 people. The man who owned the property that is now Loose Park, William Bent, traded with native Americans & led wagon trains.
The park property was originally used as part of a golf course, until 1926 when Ella Loose bought the property. Ella purchased it to create a park in honor of her husband, Jacob Loose, the founder of the Loose-Wiles Biscuit Company. In 1927, she gave the park to the city of Kansas City so all Kansas Citians could enjoy the land, Over the years, they have added fun things for kids to do for kids.
We hope your family has fun playing outdoors – you could probably spend all day there. Or, at least tire the kids out for a long nap….
Happy trails!
