About the Community Center:
6040 Slater St. Merriam, Kansas 66202
Hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 5 am to 9 pm
- Friday: 5 am to 8 pm
- Saturday: 8 am to 6 pm
- Sunday 10 am to 6 pm
The Merriam community Center opened in July 2020. It is a 66,000 square foot facility.
Child Watch:ย
** Currently closed until Phase Out
The community center offers childcare services for kids 6 months to 8 y/o FOR A FEE. The hours are as follows:
- Monday to Friday: 8 am to Noon & 4 pm to 8 pm (NOT open Friday evenings.)
- Saturday: 8 am to Noon
** Not offered on Sundays. “Discounted punch cards available.”

What all can you do here?
Fitness Center
There is an on-site fitness center that is brand new! There’s a walking track, cardio equipment, strength training equipment, weights & everything in between.
You can get fitness evaluations to gauge your current level of fitness, as well as tutorials on how to use the equipment. Tutorials include showing proper use of equipment, tips on technique and how to prevent injury.
16 & older can use the center independently. Children 13 to 15 can use the center without an adult after a free fitness center orientation is completed.

Aquatics: Indoor Pool, Outdoor Pool & Lazy River
** Closed until February 1st or when restrictions lifted. NO showers or locker rooms are available currently.
The indoor pool features slides, lazy river, lap lanes, and therapy water. The outdoor pool features lap lanes, diving boards, and zip line. There is water fun year-round!
The indoor pool is open year-round, so if you don’t like the heat you can swim indoors.
Gymnasium & Track
There is a large gymnasium that can be set up for basketball, pickleball and other sports. This is accessible with a day pass or membership.
The track can be used for walk and running.
Tim Murphy Art Gallery
There is even an art gallery inside the community center! Their hope is to promote visual arts and provide a space for exhibitions of other artist’s works.
You can freely walk through the gallery halls and enjoy each piece. Learn more about the gallery online.
Classes & Programs Available
** Require enrollment. Currently, water fitness and swim lessons are closed until restrictions lifted.
There are adult and kids programs available year round. There are limited class sizes and programs to ensure safety for all participants. Programs & activities to do include:

How to Get to the Community Center
With easy access from I-35, free parking, no contracts or cancellation penalties, the Merriam Community Center is just right for your fitness and family fun.
We are following health & safety guidance and there are some programs that are not being offered until phase out (Preschool Indoor Park, Child Watch, birthday parties and rentals)
How to Visit
Access to the facility is by day pass or membership. You can also get punch passes for various programs.

Membership or daily pass provides full access to the facility that includes an indoor pool, outdoor pool, industry-leading fitness equipment, walking/jogging track, full-size gym with options for basketball, volleyball, and pickleball, and space to gather and host events.
