Things to Do at Meadowbrook Park
There are great kids programs hosted at Meadowbrook Park, like Meadowbrook Park Natureplay, where children learn about nature through discovery & outdoor exploration.
This park offers a great environment for your kids to explore! Children will also spend time indoors, learning awareness about nature & an appreciation for nature’s beauty.
You can also go fishing!
There are 3 fishing ponds stocked with largemouth bass, catfish & bluegill fish. So bring your fishing rods & a few chairs to enjoy the afternoon by the pond. Keep in mind, fishing permits are required to fish the pond.
Take a walk around the park, with tons of beautiful trees, walkways & bridges. Or, ride your bikes around the area!
Play Pickleball! The 8 courts at this park at able to be reserved, so you can walk up & play. There are some Johnson County programs that use the courts, but other than that they are free play.
Perfect for Little Ones or Older Kids
Tons of equipment to climb on, slide down, walk across and play. The kids area has perfectly sized equipment for my 2 year old to play on. So, I think the age levels suit families well.
When pulling into the parking lot we noticed right away the outdoor area is tucked away from the main road – a big positive for a Mom with a toddler who loves to run. Everything looked very clean and there were tons of parking spots.
Being a Mom, I always scope out the restrooms. To my surprise, were all individual! Each individual restroom is equipped with their own changing table and toddler seat. I was able to push my stroller in with me and turn it around with no trouble.
There are also many fun activities for older kids to play on. You can find tons of open space for children to play, while you can see them from your spot!
The park had extra wide walking trails that went around the whole park. There were water foundations located throughout the park that had 3 heights – perfect if you have kids & pets. One for adults, one for kids and one for dogs to drink from.
Overall, we are very impressed with the park. It was safe, clean, and new. we recommend it!
Meadowbrook Park is Still Growing
Johnson County created this park to address community concerns about the lack to outdoor play space in the area. There are multiple phases planned for the park, so there is still more to come! The 10,000 square-foot clubhouse will continue to build on the programs available, as well as the physical attractions in the park.
Total costs for this project are estimated at $12.2 million, including approximately $4.2 million in proceeds from a Tax-Increment Financing (TIF) district, and $8 million in JCPRD-issued Certificates of Participation.
This Meadowbrook project is still under construction, with multiple phases planned. The total cost of the Meadowbrook Park Project is about $12.2 million (estimate), which includes a 1/3 of the funding from Tax-Increment Financing (TIF) district proceeds. The other $8 million is being financed through Johnson County Parks & Rec Department.
