Frisco Lake Park
1100 E Dennis Ave, Olathe, KS 66061
This park has fun things to do for kids and adults!
Parents can enjoy a quick workout on the trail that wraps around a lake, including built-in exercise equipment with directions. Or if you are seeking some relaxation, there are a few bench swings, shelters and even the option for fishing.
For the kiddos, the pirate ship themed playground is perfect. All around this park there’s something for everyone!
The park includes fishing lakes, sand volleyball courts, walking trails with workout equipment, portable restrooms, and of course a fun kids playground. There is also a shelter & gazebo that are available to reserve online.
Listowell Park
12037 W 71st St, Shawnee, KS 66216
Listowell Park is conveniently located & a great size for younger kiddos. The park is clean, safe, & has open places for kids to play. It features a pirate ship themed playground perfect for elementary age kids. There is tons of room to run around & play with kids or pets as well.
Find access to a ball field, tennis courts, 2 roller hockey rinks, picnic shelters and a walking trail (if you’re looking for something more relaxed). 4 miles of walking trails to be exact.
There is a full-service public restroom too!
This park is a favorite for our family on International Talk like a pirate day.
Meadowbrook Park
Depending on where you live in Kansas City, this playground might be a drive. But this is the coolest playground we have been to in KC.
There are play areas designated for different age groups as well as brand-new equipment. The park includes a rock wall, large ropes area, giant tree house slides, swings, a fishing pond & fun nature activities.
According to reviews, this is one of the cleanest, nicest parks in KC too! There are individual restrooms, each equipped with their own changing table. You can learn more about Meadowbrook Park features online.
Barrier Free Lewis & Clark Playground
290 Grant Ave, Fort Leavenworth, KS 66027
This kids playground is designed to include kids of all ability levels. The entire playground is Lewis & Clark themed, including a HUGE bison climber, teepee play thing & Lewis Clark boat! (These can provide a little history lesson too)
The park is built inside Fort Leavenworth, but is open to all families. There is a fence around the perimeter to help parents with kids that may like to run. A variety of swings, climbing equipment, padded ground and interactive musical items are included to engage children at a variety of skill levels. There are five slides for your kids to play on too…there is so much to do there.
It’s a great place for fun photo-ops!
Lions Park
300 W Morse Ave, Bonner Springs, KS 66012
This is by far the most interactive park I’ve found. It goes beyond your standard kids playground.
There is a simple playground for kids ages 2-5 with slides & a small merry go round. There are also things to do for older kids like a large structure with climbing ropes, a tightrope walk, a bridge, and an outdoor electronic game system. The game system has a few modes for kids to run around the mats, find and taping the lights.
This park is great for developing a variety of motor skills. The best part is that all parts are within a short visual range from the shelter and a rocking bench swing, so you can relax. Your kids will always be within sight!
Variety KC Inclusive Playground
6800 Zoo Dr, Kansas City, MO 64132
If you’re looking for an inclusive playground closer to home, the Variety KC Inclusive Playground is a great option. The park is the 1st inclusive playground at a U.S. zoo!
There are 2 zip lines with a companion harness, slides, an elephant swing, kids playground, & padded floors to accommodate all skill levels. You can also find low sensory areas to calm kids down if it becomes too chaotic.
