Best Farmers Markets in Kansas City
The Kansas City metro is filled with farmers markets of all shapes and sizes! We want to make finding your favorite market easy, so we’ve put together your complete farmers market guide.
The kids enjoy free samples from local vendors. My husband loves buying fresh meat from the butchers. I love that I’m able to purchase ingredients to make homemade corn tortillas. Others go for the local fruits and vegetables. Some shop local support the community.

Kansas City Farmer’s Markets:
Merriam Farmer’s Market
Location: the Merriam Marketplace (5740 Merriam Drive, Merriam, KS 66203)
When: Saturdays 7:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
May 6th – September 30th
The marketplace runs every Saturday from May to September, hosting special events, live music, contests, and workshops each week. Check out their online market schedule for events happening weekly. Market vendors include local produce, home-baked bread & cookies, handmade crafts, juicy fruits, & more.
If you live near Merriam and want to shop locally, head to the farmers market this Saturday!
Overland Park Farmer’s Market
Location: 7950 Marty St, Overland Park, KS 66204
When: Saturdays 7 am – 1 pm (8 am – 12 pm 10/7 to 11/18) and Wednesdays 7:30 am -1:00 pm (5/16 to 9/26)
With both a weekend and weekday market, there’s time to shop no matter your schedule. Plus, the OP farmers market has set up shop for over 40 years, so you know it’s filled with great vendors!

Third Friday Markets in Baldwin City
Location: Downtown Baldwin City, KS (High Street)
When: Every third Friday from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. from June- September
One of the great things about this farmers market is most of the vendors accept credit cards. Some of the many items for sale at this market:

Gardner Farmers Market
Location: Johnson County Fairgrounds– 136 E. Washington Street Gardner, KS 66030
When: Every Thursday, May 25th to September 28th
Everything from locally grown food to handmade crafts are available for purchase!
Blue Springs Farmer Market
Location: Downtown Blue Springs – 11th & Main Street
When: Every Saturday from May to October from 7:00 am – 12:00 pm
City Market
Location: The River Market: 20 E 5th St. KCMO.
When: The city market runs year-round.
- April to October: Saturdays and Sundays 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- November to December: Saturdays & Sundays 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- January – March: Saturdays and Sundays 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
There are 30+ full-time vendors offering local produce, fresh meats, flowers, home accessories, hot food & restaurants, and services…there is even a gardening shop full of fun frog lawn ornaments! Keep in mind, the vendors change throughout the seasons, so there may be new stalls to explore next time you’re there.
This is the largest farmers market in the KC area with more than 140 vendors, so it’s definitely worth a visit!
Leavenworth Farmer’s Market
Location: Haymarket Square in downtown Leavenworth.
When: Every Saturday and Wednesday
Saturdays:
- May 6th to August 26th, 7:00 am until 12:00 pm
- September 2nd to October 28th: 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Wednesdays:
- May 10th to September 27th: 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.
The market vendors sell usual farmers’ market products like honey and fresh produce, as well as a variety of other unique offerings.
One of our favorite parts of this farmers market is they participate in the Double Up Food Bucks Program. They will double up your SNAP dollars so your family can buy even more more local foods without breaking the bank.
Lee’s Summit Farmer’s Market
Location: Downtown Lee’s Summit at 2nd & Douglas Street
When: Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8:00 am to 12:00 p.m. running April 15th to November 4th.
There are over 50 vendors that offer a wide variety of products for your family to choose from. You can also enjoy food trucks, special events, and live music (among other fun things).
This farmers market was named the #1 Missouri farmers market 6 years in a row by America’s Favorite Farmers Market contest! So head to downtown LS to see what all the talk is about…
Keep in mind there are different layouts on Wednesdays and Saturdays, so be sure to look at their handy map!
Lenexa Farmer’s Market
Location: the Lenexa Civic Campus Parking Garage. (17201 W. 87th Street Parkway Lenexa, KS )
When: Saturdays & Tuesdays from April to October
- Saturdays: April 29th to Oct. 28th: 8 a.m. – 12 pm
- Tuesdays: May 30th to Aug. 29th: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

Liberty Farmer’s Market
Location: the Liberty Square in downtown Liberty. (117 N Main St b, Liberty, MO 64068)
When: Every Saturday from May to October from 7:00 am – 12:00 pm & October, 8 am – 12 pm.
You can shop for local fruits & vegetables, fresh meats, dairy products, baked goods, & more. They even host kids maker markets where kiddos can sell their wares! If you’re looking for the best market around, this farmers market was voted the best in the northland
The marketplace takes credit/debit cards, SNAP dollars, and cash.
Olathe Farmer’s Market
Location: This market has 2 locations
- Stagecoach Park: 1205 E Kansas City Road &
- Black Bob Park: 14500 W 151st Street at Field 1
When: Saturdays (April 29th to October 21st) and Wednesdays (May 10th to September 13th), from 7:30 am until all items are sold.
The markets runs at both locations, on both days. There are different vendors at each location, so we definitely recommend checking out both options!
While all vendors accept cash, some vendors ONLY accept cards. Keep this in mind when planning your trip.
Brookside Farmer’s Market
When: Open Saturdays all year round from 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.
Located in the heart of Brookside, this farmers’ market is one of the city’s longest-running markets. It offers a wide variety of locally grown produce, artisanal foods, and handmade goods, all made by small farmers and artisans.
Shawnee Farmer’s Market
Location: City Hall parking lot – 11110 Johnson Drive Shawnee, KS
When: every Saturday morning from 7:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m from May- October.
It offers a variety of fresh produce, baked goods, locally-raised meats, and artisanal cheeses.
Parkville Farmer’s Market
Location: English Landing Park, Parkville, MO
When: Open 2 days per week
- Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Wednesdays from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 pm.
This is a smaller farmers market, but their vendors offer a variety of produce, farm fresh eggs, jams & jellies, bread and more. Check out their website to see a full list of vendors and what each offers.
Independence Farmer’s Market
Location: 211 W. Truman Rd
When: Open every Wednesday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m, May to October. Their winter hours are every first Saturday in December- April from 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m.
This is another market that offers the double up SNAP bucks. They also have restrooms that are open to the public for you or your little ones.
Belton Farmer’s Market
Location: Memorial Park, Belton, MO
When: Thursdays, 4 to 7pm running from May to September
Features local vendors with homemade, home cooked, and home grown items. Each week, they post a helpful map on their Facebook page showing you the layout of that week’s market, along with the names of each vendor.
Cass County Farmer’s Market
Location: Family Center Farm & Home: 2601 Cantrell Road, Harrisonville, MO
When: open Saturdays from 8am to Noon
They offer many handcrafted gifts, produce, and plants! You can be sure the goods at this market are homegrown or handmade – they have specific rules on what is allowed!
Gladstone Farmer’s Market
Location: 7010 North Holmes Street, Gladstone, MO
When: Saturday’s from 8am to 1pm May through October
A very popular market in the northland! This market also now offers the double up on SNAP program, so your money goes twice as far!
Mission Market
Location: 5635 Johnson Drive, Mission, KS
When: June to August: Thursdays from 4:30- 8pm
This market features a collection of fruits, vegetables, flowers, plants, and more! You can find a lot more up-to-date information on their website, so be sure to check it out before you head to the market.
Paola Farmer’s Market
Location: Park Square, West Miami Street, Downtown Paola, KS
When: Saturday’s 6am – 9pm from May to August
This farmers market not only includes the market, but it also features live music each week! Music on the Square is a live performance summer series with new artists each week, so grab your lawn chair and come hang out with your family.
Peculiar Farmer’s Market
Location: Parking lot on the corner of W. Center and S. Main Streets, Peculiar, MO
When: Wednesdays and Fridays from 4pm-7pm
This market features farmers, vendors, craftsmen, and artists selling homemade and homegrown products.
Spring Hill Farmer’s Market
Location: 406 West Nichols, Spring Hill, KS
When: Saturdays from 7:30am-11:30am (opens June 10th & closes mid-September)
Tips for Your Farmer’s Market Visit:
When you venture out to your local farmers’ markets, be sure to walk around to check out each vendor. Many of the local farmer’s markets have plenty of vendors to choose from. Each offers a variety of local produce, meats, cheeses, and sweet treats. Here are some other tips for the farmer’s market:
- Take time to find a good parking spot, farmers markets can be crowded and you’ll want to make sure you don’t have to carry your haul too far when you’re done.
- Wear comfortable shoes for walking the marketplace.
- If you have little ones, bring a small stroller to help with tired legs.
- BYOB (Bring your own bags!)
- Make sure you have plenty of cash to make the process smoother.
- Bring a cooler if you’re planning to spend a lot of time at the market to store meat and local produce.
Pro Tip: The City Market at the River Market is a great farmer’s market family adventure. There are TONS of shops & local eateries around the market so your day will be packed with things to do. At the city market you can find a wide variety of spices, fruits, veggies, local meat, & even create some of your own delicious spice blends!
