What Fall Flavors Should You Try?
1. Honeycrisp Apples
Autumn is pique apple-picking season, so apples of almost every variety are available in your local grocery store.
Take your pick.
Our favorite variety has always been the Honeycrisp apple…the perfect combination of sweet and tart. They are delicious as a stand-alone snack, but they also are great dipped in peanut butter or caramel.ย If raw apples are not your thing, bake them up in a fall-flavored pie, or if you are like me, sauteโ them in butter, and top a Fall ice cream sundae with them.
2. Chai Latte
If you love pumpkin spice, I implore you to try a chai latte. It’s one of my favorite Fall flavors…of all time.
The cinnamon and cardamom of chai are a comforting Fall favorite – almost as cozy as your favorite winter blanket.ย You can usually order a cup of chai from your local barista, or you can buy a box of tea at the grocery store as well. You will not be disappointed.
3. Eggnog
I know what you are thinking…eggnog is a winter flavor.
But, grocery stores start stocking the shelves with this delicious holiday staple just before Halloween.ย Eggnog by itself is delicious, but there are recipes out there for eggnog french toast, eggnog ice cream, or use it as a creamer in your coffee.
Don’t we all want to get in the holiday spirit just a little early?
4. Spice cake
This delicious dessert takes all the warmest, most comforting spices, and bakes them into cake form.ย What is there not to love?
When I was a kid, I couldnโt wait for those Little Debbieโs spice cakes to come out.ย They are rare now but if I find them, I always buy –ย and hide –ย a couple of boxes for myself.
To kick it up a notch, some people throw in rum and make it a spiced rum cake.
Never had it?ย Think carrot cake without the carrots. Fall rum spice cake is a delicious Fall treat!
5. Chili dogs
Nothing signifies the start of fall to me more than a big bowl of steaming hot chili.
Sure, you can top chili with whatever you like, but there is no better way to enjoy the flavors of chili, than a chili hot dog covered with cheese and mustard.ย (The chili replaces the ketchup. No need to double up on the tomato flavor…unless of course, thatโs your thing.)
6. Mulled Wine
One of my absolute favorite fall flavors is a rich mulled wine. Red wine with orange, cranberry, cinnamon, and all the spices of fall! This drink makes for a delicious treat for adults during all the fall (and winter) festivities.
7. Cinnamon Rolls
Nothing says cozy like a warm delicious cinnamon roll. Bring in fall with a fresh batch of gooey cinnamon rolls. Want to take them up a notch, try the viral TikTok hack by pouring heavy cream over them before popping them in the oven.
8. Roasted Sweet Potatoes
I love a delicious sweet potato with honey butter! Sweet potatoes are a great fall item that can be used many ways. Prefer them to be sweet? Make a yummy sweet potato pie.
ย
So, there you have it…
The best Fall flavors. The most magnificent thing about this list is that almost all of them can be paired with a slice of pumpkin pie if you just have to have your pumpkin spice fix.
Happy eating!
