Benefits of horseback riding lesson for myself and my kids?
Riding offers many benefits for both children and adults.
Develops focus and the ability to listen to and follow through on multi step directions.
Tones and engages multiple muscle and skeletal systems.
Improves balance and coordination.
Stress relieving time with animals in the fresh air. No more sitting in front of a TV or computer!
Care and responsibility for an animal, our lessons include grooming, general horse care, and on the ground knowledge. We believe that good horsemanship begins long before we get on the horse and teach according to this philosophy.
Lasting friendships based around a common interest. Riders in our group lessons often become great friends both in the barn and outside of it. Helping each other with barn work, encouraging their friends as they learn new and different skills, and showing exemplary sportsmanship of their fellow barn mates at shows.
What should I wear for my lessons?
Come prepared for the weather, riders tend to get warmer during lessons so removable layers are best. Long pants such as jeans or leggings, and close toed shoes. We will provide helmets for the first few rides are can direct you as to where to find one that best fits your rider. A water bottle is always recommended. Riders who are continuing in the program are encouraged to acquire paddock boots and Kentucky jodphurs. Your instructor can help you find these items, as children are always growing there are several great resources for used equipment as well.
We understand that sometimes life can be unpredictable. We ask that a 24 hour notice be given for all cancelled lessons. Lessons can be made up anytime during the 6 week semester. In the event that the weather is too severe for everyone to safely travel to and from the barn we will contact you about rescheduling.
