||You're Next: Movie Review
Do not go see this movie after dinner, all the blood and carnage may keep everything from digesting. The movie "Your Next" is definitely not about the actors and actresses. There have been so many movies lately that are just loaded with the best of the best, and I don't recall any stars in this movie. "Your Next" was all about the blood and gore. The blood and gore scene's were so often and so exaggerated that the audience was both screaming and yes, many times laughing. I have not seen so many booby traps since "Home Alone" with Macaulay Culkin. However, these traps grotesquely demolished the victim whether that intruder was a good guy or villain.
I had a difficult time watching the movie because of all the killings, having said that, I am also the type of person that refuses to look at road kill, because it grosses me out for the rest of the day. So when my face was not covered, I looked around at the audience and was shocked to see most eyes glued to the gore and even laughing at the overly intensified killing scenes. The teenagers seemed to really like the movie. My daughter who loves scary movies said this was "the best scary movie ever" and to give it a good review. She liked it better than her all time favorite "Insidious". This movie could possibly be comparable to the very popular "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" movies; however, the weapon of choice here was a crossbow and ax.
I would not be surprised to see the animal masks the killers used from this movie at the stores for this Halloween season. The masks were really creepy and eerie and just really made this movie scary. Surprisingly enough, the big reveal towards the end of the movie had nothing to do with the mask.
